Prostate Cancer Screening Project

The Primary Care Network that looks after our surgeries are starting a Prostate Screening Project.

Did you know:

– Early-stage prostate cancer is often symptomless, with an estimated 14,000 men in England currently undiagnosed

– Black men have a 1 in 4 lifetime risk of prostate cancer, compared to 1 in 8 for other men

– A similar project in another Bristol PCN identified 4 confirmed prostate cancer cases, and referred 16 more for further diagnosis

The PCN will start to send invites to those patients at a higher risk to book in a PSA blood test. This will either be by text with a self-booking link, or a telephone call.

Please note:

Do not contact us, please wait for your invite, the invitations need to be staggered so that we can cope with the numbers involved.

The PCN will provide extra blood test appointments so that this project will not impact our normal blood test appointment availability.
